WASHINGTON (August 26, 2019)—Today the Humane Society Legislative Fund, the nation’s leading political advocacy organization for animal welfare, announced its endorsement of Dan McCready for North Carolina’s 9th Congressional District.
Marine Corps veteran Dan McCready has a strong track record of serving his country and his community. After returning from Iraq, McCready started a solar energy business in Charlotte and helped build 36 solar farms throughout North Carolina which put 700 North Carolinians to work in good-paying jobs. In Congress, McCready will fight to protect North Carolina’s natural beauty and wildlife habitat.
“We trust Dan McCready to protect the health and safety of animals everywhere,” said Brad Pyle, the political director of the Humane Society Legislative Fund. “The Humane Society Legislative Fund encourages those who value the humane treatment of animals to vote for Dan McCready.”
In stark contrast, his opponent Dan Bishop has repeatedly voted against legislation aimed at preventing cruelty to animals. Bishop voted against bipartisan legislation making it unlawful to possess, sell, transfer, or breed a dangerous wild animal. Bishop also voted against common sense legislation to require large commercial dog breeders, known as puppy mills, to meet certain standards of care, including access to food, water, and veterinary care.
